Speaker:

Welcome, everyone.

Speaker:

Let's start by wishing you a very happy new year.

Speaker:

I hope you got some time to rest, recharge.

Speaker:

Rejoice.

Speaker:

Spend some time with your family

Speaker:

yourself and just enjoyed the holiday season that we had.

Speaker:

It's funny.

Speaker:

Before I decided to take the time off

Speaker:

completely off, I didn't force anything.

Speaker:

I didn't go in social media.

Speaker:

I mean, I did go, but I didn't interact.

Speaker:

I just was in and out quickly.

Speaker:

You know, old habits die harder,

Speaker:

going / being on social media platforms every day.

Speaker:

And, you know, for multiple hours,

Speaker:

it was very hard to put the phone down and not look.

Speaker:

So I did.

Speaker:

I would say that I did look around,

Speaker:

but I didn't interact, I just kept it minimal

Speaker:

unless it was important.

Speaker:

I just didn't have any social interaction.

Speaker:

I tried to limit my time there, and

Speaker:

I focused my time with my family

Speaker:

doing the chores, whatever was needed

Speaker:

and just stayed home, you know, out of doing the work.

Speaker:

So I hope

Speaker:

you got some time off, too, and you, you know,

Speaker:

were able to at least do some

Speaker:

rest and recovery and reflect on

Speaker:

2021, honor your wins

Speaker:

all, honor what 2021 brought to your place before

Speaker:

you started planning it and get it out for 2022 already.

Speaker:

One of my mentors, Penny Ooi, who is a brilliant leader,

Speaker:

brilliant, brilliant person, really caring, loving

Speaker:

person it's the person you would want to be your leader.

Speaker:

She used to wish us a Happy New Year by saying

Speaker:

Happy New Year and happy new you.

Speaker:

And that was something she would say

Speaker:

and do every year.

Speaker:

And what she meant by that was that, you know,

Speaker:

in her ways, she was telling us that.

Speaker:

If only you create something new in your life,

Speaker:

like if only there is something new in your life,

Speaker:

in your day, in your months, in your quarters;

Speaker:

then only you have a new year.

Speaker:

Otherwise it's just a repeat right.

Speaker:

It's just

Speaker:

repeat of 2021 into 2022 for the majority of the part.

Speaker:

If there is nothing new like think of it,

Speaker:

if you're doing the same exact things that you did last year

Speaker:

this year, how can you expect growth, right?

Speaker:

You have to do certain things even, you know,

Speaker:

exercising routine everyday muscles.

Speaker:

If you're doing the same exact set, same exact exercise

Speaker:

after a while, it stops,

Speaker:

it stops working

Speaker:

or it stops giving the results you want.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

So you want to bring in change and it is important

Speaker:

in bringing something new gives you, you know, aliveness.

Speaker:

It feels like life that there is something new happening.

Speaker:

It gives you the excitement that there is something

Speaker:

new happening.

Speaker:

So what my mentor meant

Speaker:

when she said, Happy new you.

Speaker:

She wanted us to create something new in our life.

Speaker:

You know,

Speaker:

not only just in our

Speaker:

businesses, in our work, but in our life.

Speaker:

She wanted us to

Speaker:

explore things, try something new, be it,

Speaker:

you know, new food, new recipes or meeting new people,

Speaker:

just adding things that give joy to our life.

Speaker:

And that would, you know,

Speaker:

mean that

Speaker:

there is actually a new year, otherwise there's just numbers

Speaker:

changing right,

Speaker:

as I was thinking of sharing a message for the new year.

Speaker:

I was reminded of the movie, the bucket list.

Speaker:

I'm not sure if you've have seen it or not.

Speaker:

If you have not.

Speaker:

You should really watch it.

Speaker:

It's really

Speaker:

amazing movie was,

Speaker:

I think it was released in 2017.

Speaker:

Amazing amazing work by Jack

Speaker:

Nicholson and Morgan Freeman in the movie.

Speaker:

Really

Speaker:

soul touching movie, I would say.

Speaker:

So in the movie, Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman,

Speaker:

when they are sitting on the pyramids.

Speaker:

Morgan Freeman tells about the Egyptian philosophy

Speaker:

when somebody dies and before they could enter

Speaker:

the gates of heaven, they ask two questions

and the questions are:

Did you receive joy in your life?

and the questions are:

The second,

and the questions are:

did you give joy out to the people in your life,

and the questions are:

right?

and the questions are:

And I wish you this new year.

and the questions are:

I hope I wish you that you receive

and the questions are:

joy in everything you do in your life.

and the questions are:

Whatever you touch upon, whatever work you do,

and the questions are:

I wish you that you do it with joy.

and the questions are:

You would do it with

and the questions are:

a sense of aliveness to that work not just it

and the questions are:

being some mundane routine that you do with your day,

and the questions are:

but add and find a way to enjoy it

and the questions are:

because that's what will give your work.

and the questions are:

the meaning.

and the questions are:

If you cannot

and the questions are:

by any means have joy with you at work.

and the questions are:

Maybe it's time to change that.

and the questions are:

Maybe it's time to see what else can you do with

and the questions are:

your life that can bring you joy so that work does not?

and the questions are:

You know, becomes the work at

and the questions are:

work becomes the joy of work, becomes the play.

and the questions are:

So that's the first thing and the second thing I wish

and the questions are:

was that whoever you come in touch with, whoever you touch,

and the questions are:

you give them joy, you are able to bring joy to their lives.

and the questions are:

Right.

and the questions are:

Whether it's people

and the questions are:

at your work, home, friends, family, strangers

and the questions are:

that wherever you go and you become this

and the questions are:

light of joy that when people see you, they receive joy?

and the questions are:

And I know it's a hard thing, but that's one thing that I

and the questions are:

wish you all and that I wish myself

and the questions are:

that I'm able to do that when I meet somebody

and the questions are:

what I interact with somebody that my presence

and the questions are:

becomes the reason they are able to get some joy.

and the questions are:

And that's the big thing. It's not a small action.

and the questions are:

It's not something that can happen overnight, but

and the questions are:

I think that's what gives meaning to our lives.

and the questions are:

And that's something that I want to strive for in 2022.

and the questions are:

So as I close this first episode of the show,

and the questions are:

I just want to wish you all really happy new year ahead.

and the questions are:

I wish you joy. I wish you bring joy.

and the questions are:

All right.

and the questions are:

I hope you enjoy the show as much as I did

and the questions are:

and got some valuable nuggets out of it.

and the questions are:

If you liked it,

and the questions are:

there are other shows you can watch

and the questions are:

and they are exactly what you need.

and the questions are:

And I ask you to like, comment.

and the questions are:

Subscribe.

and the questions are:

Let me know what you thought of the show.

and the questions are:

Really, I want to hear from you firsthand

and the questions are:

what you found, what you liked, what you didn't like.

and the questions are:

So thank you and see you around.

About the Podcast

It's on Entrepreneurship, Spirituality and The Dance Of Life
with Manpreet Bawa
After 20 years as a successful IT professional in corporate America, I seemed to had it all. I raised over 10M’+ in sales, but I was unfulfilled and unhappy for not being in control. Suddenly I realized: if I died tomorrow, all I would be known for was 20 years of career success and nothing else. It wasn’t enough for me, so I worked feverishly to get out of an unfulfilling rut.
I learned my lessons about investing in self and equally focusing on soft skills aka life skills like leadership, communication, etc. a hard way. But it doesn't need to be this hard.
This is why I created this show where I can bring influencers and thought leaders from all walks of life who can help provide tools and strategies for growth in
Entrepreneurship
Spirituality
and The Dance Of Life.
